Gaming Bits, “Mirror’s Edge Demo Now Available For PS3 and Xbox 360”

A playable demo for Mirror’s Edge is now available for the Xbox 360 and the PLAYSTATION 3. It opens with an animated intro of the game and then gives you a playable tutorial of the basic gameplay mechanics Faith uses such as running, sliding and disarming enemies. If you pre-ordered the game, you should have received an email with a code, giving you access to the Time Trials in the demo. In Time Trials, you’ll have find the fastest route through some checkpoints.
Mirror’s Edge is coming from DICE and EA to the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 on November 11, 2008.

GameDaily, “EA Posts $310 Million Loss in Q2, Plans to Cut 6% of Workforce”
Electronic Arts today announced its fiscal results for the second quarter ended September 30. The publisher’s net loss widened from $195 million to $310 million, in part thanks to larger marketing and development costs. Net revenue, however, grew by 40 percent ($254 million) to $894 million. EA said it had a net deferral of $232 million of net revenue “related to certain online enabled packaged goods games and digital content.”
The big sales drivers for the quarter as you might expect were Madden NFL 09 (4.5 million copies sold), Spore (almost 2 million sold in three weeks), and Warhammer Online (1.2 million sold).

Kotaku, “Mirror’s Edge Demo Hits This Week”
Looks like that rumored Mirror’s Edge demo will be hitting the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 earlier than we thought.
Electronic Arts just announced that the demo for the free-running blank canvas will hit the Playstation Store on Oct. 30 and Xbox Live Marketplace on Oct. 31. The demo will include the prologue of the game, a tutorial and a segment of the single-player story mode.
Also people who pre-order the game through “select retailers” will receive an unlock code for access to the Time Trial mode. In the Time Trial mode you will have to try and find the fastest routes through chunks of the city.
I’ll be interested to hear if it makes anyone trying it motion sick. I was fine when I played the game, but Ash got all green and icky feeling.
In FIFA 09 you can upload videos to EA SPORTS Football World directly from your console. Here’s a goal I made playing as Arsenal against West Ham.
Joystiq, “BlizzCon 2008: In-depth Diablo III hands-on”
This will definitely be at the top of our “must buy” list … whenever it comes out.
When we weren’t taking photos, sitting in Starcraft 2 panels, or watching the closing ceremonies at BlizzCon, all of our available free time was devoted to Diablo 3. It was the first thing we played within minutes of the grand opening, and the game they had to pry us away from when the doors closed. Yes, it’s just that good. Plus, we still have two character classes that haven’t been revealed yet, so who knows what else this has in store for us.
We were happy just to be able to return to the world of Diablo after seven years since the Lord of Destruction expansion set was on store shelves, and it was worth the wait. Find out everything we could during our exhaustive hands-on after the break, and be sore to check out the galleries below that show off in-game screens and concept art. Plus we’re sticking that gameplay footage in again, because it’s the only way we can enjoy Diablo until there’s a beta, or some sort of miracle occurs.

Ripten Video Game Blog, “WoW Whore Has 36 Accounts, Raids by Himself”
In what is perhaps the most shining example of obsession and geekiness I have ever seen, a fella by the name of Bradster has 36 World of WarCraft accounts that he plays on 11 computers simultaneously. He mainly seems to be doing it because he doesn’t like to rely on so many other people to get a raid going, which includes attacking the Alliance capital cities, and on that front I can totally see where he’s coming from.
