TEHRAN (AFP)— Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday congratulated US president-elect Barack Obama on his success — rare praise between two countries which are arch-foes, IRNA news agency reported.
“I congratulate you on being able to attract the majority of votes of the participants of the election,” Ahmadinejad said in a message to Obama carried by the official agency.
“You know the opportunities bestowed upon people by God are short-lived,” he said.

Americans have cut back on buying cars, furniture and clothes in a tough economy, but there’s one consumer item that’s still enjoying healthy sales: guns. Purchases of firearms and ammunition have risen 8 to 10 percent this year, according to state and federal data.
Several variables drive sales, but many dealers, buyers and experts attribute the increase in part to concerns about the economy and fears that if Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois wins the presidency, he will join with fellow Democrats in Congress to enact new gun controls. Obama has said that he believes in an individual right to bear arms but that he also supports “common-sense safety measures.”

The order and memorandum came down at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Philip Berg’s lawsuit challenging Illinois Sen. Barack Obama’s constitutional eligibility to serve as president of the United States had been dismissed by the Hon. R. Barclay Surrick on grounds that the Philadelphia attorney and former Deputy Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania lacked standing.

In late November 2004, Pat Dollard, a Hollywood talent agent whose biggest client was the director Steven Soderbergh, dropped everything, picked up a video camera, and went to Iraq.
The 40-year-old, who was suffering a drug-fuelled breakdown following the collapse of his fourth marriage, had never been near a war zone in his life.
After a brief stopover in Baghdad, he embedded at Camp Kalsu, a US Marine Corps base in an area known as the Triangle of Death.
The marines reckoned he would be gone within a matter of days. But Dollard stayed in Iraq for three months and returned a year later to spend an even longer stretch in Ramadi, one of the country’s deadliest, and most underreported, flashpoints.

“We are leaning more in favor of Barack Obama because he is more flexible and rational, even though we know American policy will not change that much,” Larijani said at a press conference during a visit to Bahrain.

At the end of the day, the observer is left with only two conclusions: either Barack Obama experienced a quantum surge in his writing skills almost overnight; or someone made a major contribution to the rewriting of his book.
Evidence continues to mount that Barack Obama had substantial help from Bill Ayers in the creation of his 1995 book, Dreams From My Father, a book that Time Magazine has called “the best-written memoir ever produced by an American politician.” The evidence falls into five general categories, here summarized.
- The discovery of new matching nautical metaphors from both Ayers and Obama that almost assuredly came from the same source: Ayers, a former merchant seaman.
- The discovery of a Bill Ayers’ essay on memoir writing, whose postmodern themes and phrases are echoed throughout Dreams.
- A newly discovered book chapter from 1990 that shows clearly and painfully the limits of Obama’s prose style the year he received a contract to write Dreams.
- The revelation by radical Islamicist Rashid Khalidi that Ayers made his “dining room table” available for neighborhood writers who needed help.
- A refined timeline that shows Ayers had the means, the motive and the time to help Obama when he needed it most.

Drudge teased this earlier, and Fox News has announced that conservative radio and television host Glenn Beck is joining the network, leaving behind CNN’s Headline News. Beck will host a show at 5 p.m. on Fox beginning in the spring (Full release after the jump).
It hasn’t yet been determined when Beck’s last day will be, but I’ve heard from a network source that Headline News was already preparing to re-air “Lou Dobbs Tonight” at 9pm, instead of Beck’s show (which first airs at 7pm). When Beck leaves, Dobbs show will be in the 9pm slot, but no decision on 7pm.

Growing up during the Cold War I recall hearing how in the Communist countries the text books were complete creations by the government that had nothing to do with truth or factual history. In recent years we also know the books in certain Muslim countries do the same thing by devoting the core of learning in schools to the devotion of “the leader”. And in some countries they choose to omit and ignore certain ‘chapters’ in their history. You’ll NEVER find even a mention of The Rape and Massacre of Nanking by Japanese soldiers anywhere in Japanese history … or even talked about in the population. I only read about it a few years ago.
Meanwhile, here in the United States our children are crammed with the white man’s rape and slaughter of the Native Americans, and then the African slaves. And then for some reason, this generation jumps over WWI and WWII (and all those wars prior we had to memorize names and dates for) to the Vietnam War … and then to how great a President Bill Clinton was, and how George Bush wasn’t really president because Al Gore won Florida.

Another piece in the puzzle of Barack Obama has been revealed, greatly strengthening the picture of a man groomed by an older generation of radical leftists for insertion into the American political process, trading on good looks, brains, educational pedigree, and the desire of the vast majority of the voting public to right the historical racial wrongs of the land.
The New Party was a radical left organization, established in 1992, to amalgamate far left groups and push the United States into socialism by forcing the Democratic Party to the left. It was an attempt to regroup the forces on the left in a new strategy to take power, burrowing from within. The party only lasted until 1998, when its strategy of “fusion” failed to withstand a Supreme Court ruling. But dissolving the party didn’t stop the membership, including Barack Obama, from continuing to move the Democrats leftward with spectacular success.
